I'm a photographer and watercolourist. I have practiced photography since childhood and digital photography since 1995. I turned it into my main occupation in 2021. I own a photo studio in Paris, France.

B&W, definitely. The color version appears washed out, hiding detail, but the b&w version brings out all of the intricate shadows and detail beautifully. Excellent photo!

Well, I guess I should have also mentioned that I adore B&W photography, but I also know that some photos just aren’t strong enough to pull it off. Your photo is. It’s beautiful as B&W.

Thank you so much 🙂 This is indeed a heavenly part of town, a bit like the mews area around Craven Road in London if you see what I mean.
In the color version the clouds jump out, while in the BW it’s the cobbles. Interesting!

I prefer the b&w version. But this may be an example where selective colorisation of the blue sky on an otherwise b&w image might work well.
Thanks! would you do that with Photoshop? Would you require CS5+ or would a standard PSE do the job?
I only have lightroom but it is a function inside the Nik Silver efex plugin. You should be able to do it in PSE. Just google selective colorisation PSE and you should find something helpful.
