The rationale behind the fountains <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wallace_fountain#Why_fountains.3F\" target=\"_blank\">is to be found in the fact that many aqueducts had been destroyed during the siege of Paris and those fountains were meant to bring drinking water to the <\/a>City.
