It rained so much on that day it turned the whole place into a real-life swimming pool. Here is\u00a0a series of photos I took in and around a swimming pool within the premises of a private property. As the water was at body temperature, I used the condensation on the windows to create patterns or effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reflection of the ceiling in the pool was very picturesque too.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

One of the children had brought an inflatable dolphin with him, which had caught my attention. I also discovered that by shaking the protective structure of the pool, I could make drops<\/a> fall from the ceiling and draw circles on the surface of the water.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

All of this made me think of David Hockney’s famous swimming pool series<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\n

David Hockney’s California swimming pool paintings,<\/a> created primarily in the 1960s and 1970s, captured the hedonistic allure of Los Angeles at its cultural peak. Works like\u00a0A Bigger Splash<\/em>\u00a0(1967 right, source : Wikipedia Fair use<\/a>) distilled California leisure into flat, sun-drenched planes of turquoise and white, contrasting the frozen violence of the splash against the stillness of the surrounding scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hockney was fascinated by the visual challenge water presents: its transparency, reflections, and constant movement. Using acrylic paint, he developed a distinctive graphic language of rippled lines and bold colour fields. The series remains among the most recognisable imagery in postwar British and American art.<\/p>\n<\/div>

A few years later I stumbled upon another of these swimming pools, but there was less of a potential for taking pictuires of droplets and vapour. A bit of a shame, I can seen them from where I am now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
