At first glance, structured, sleek, impressively ordered\u2014an unbroken sequence of repeated patterns. Yet, looking deeper, I find hidden imperfections, interruptions, and subtle misalignments. Just as each glass panel subtly distorts reality, businesses often distort their own narratives, revealing only what is intended, keeping behind blinds the truths that are uncomfortable to acknowledge. Here&#8217;s an invitation to introspection: rows upon rows of windows, all looking like each other, looking almost identical&#8230; until you fall upon this fatal glitch. The tell-tale detail that shows the world isn&#8217;t perfect after all.<\/p>\n<h2>The Blind Truth About the Business World<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17867\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17867\" style=\"width: 2048px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/antimuseum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/The-Blind-Truth-Antimuseum-Yann-Gourvennec.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17867 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/antimuseum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/The-Blind-Truth-Antimuseum-Yann-Gourvennec.jpg?resize=1000%2C667&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"The Blind Truth\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17867\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The blind truth about the business world, as I often recount on my <a href=\"https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visionary Marketing website<\/a> &#8211; Boulogne-Billancourt &#8211; Paris &#8211; March 2025<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In my 30 years of navigating the world of marketing, I\u2019ve observed businesses struggle between transparency and concealment, much like the blinds in these windows. Leaders champion openness publicly while privately fearing that transparency might expose weaknesses. Conversely, I&#8217;ve also heard business leaders show their stigmata to the world as if they were Jesus come down from the cross.<\/p>\n<p>_ Touch my wounds, and ye shall be healed!<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Transparency is proclaimed as a virtue, yet the business world is built upon layers of necessary illusions\u2014budgets embellished, projections polished, strategies presented with orchestrated confidence. Sheer luck turned into fake mastery. We market successes loudly, minimising whispers of setbacks and failures. It&#8217;s all cheap storytelling when you think of it. It&#8217;s not so much the pressure to up hold appearances vs the courage to speak truthfully.\u00a0At the end of the day, all of this is very Shakespearean.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>All the world\u2019s a stage,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And all the men and women merely players<\/strong>;<br \/>\nThey have their exits and their entrances,<br \/>\n<strong>And one man in his time plays many parts<\/strong>,<br \/>\nHis acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,<br \/>\nMewling and puking in the nurse\u2019s arms.<br \/>\nThen the whining schoolboy, with his satchel<br \/>\nAnd shining morning face, creeping like snail<br \/>\nUnwillingly to school. And then the lover,<br \/>\nSighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad<br \/>\nMade to his mistress\u2019 eyebrow. Then a soldier,<br \/>\nFull of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,<br \/>\nJealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,<br \/>\n<strong>Seeking the bubble reputation<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Even in the cannon\u2019s mouth<\/strong>. And then the justice,<br \/>\nIn fair round belly with good capon lined,<br \/>\nWith eyes severe and beard of formal cut,<br \/>\nFull of wise saws and modern instances;<br \/>\nAnd so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts<br \/>\nInto the lean and slipper&#8217;d pantaloon,<br \/>\nWith spectacles on nose and pouch on side,<br \/>\nHis youthful hose, well sav&#8217;d, a world too wide<br \/>\nFor his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,<br \/>\nTurning again toward childish treble, pipes<br \/>\nAnd whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,<br \/>\nThat ends this strange eventful history,<br \/>\nIs second childishness and mere oblivion;<br \/>\nSans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans every thing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensourceshakespeare.org\/views\/plays\/play_view.php?WorkID=asyoulikeit&amp;Scope=entire&amp;pleasewait=1&amp;msg=pl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">As you like it<\/a>, Act II scene 7<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A single window in my image stands partially exposed\u2014a poignant symbol. In business, just as in photography, partial exposure reveals more truth than full concealment or complete openness. Absolute transparency, after all, remains unrealistic; absolute concealment unsustainable. All of this reminds me of Poe&#8217;s Purloined Letter.<\/p>\n<p>During my career, I\u2019ve often encountered many businesses whose blinds were permanently closed. Their fa\u00e7ade of perfection was impressive, yet unsustainable, as truths inevitably seeped through the cracks.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, in the business world\u2014as in photography\u2014the most compelling stories are those that reveal truths honestly and authentically.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, next time you gaze upon a building of endless glass panels, consider the blind truth that lies behind the blinds.
