With the surge of over tourism since the Olympics in 2024, Paris is now under the influence of high-strung influencers jiggling in front of the Eiffel Tower. Monuments and the City used to be the main subject but no longer. They are the main characters of a show that takes place in front of us, so that we are all becoming, however unwillingly, the spiritual sons of the late and much regretted Martin Parr. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These three were having fun dancing in front of what I gather was an Instagram window. The bitter cold on that day only made the performance even more remarkable. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I love that photo even more, the rubbish inside the bin, the fur coat (not sure it’s made from animal fleece), the suit which is slightly too tight for the lady, the goods on display… All that makes for a good instagram picture I’m sure. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I have genuine admiration for this young lady who stood in her little top with her bare shoulders in the bitter cold of that late January evening in Paris. There was no way we could have taken good pictures of the Eiffel Tower so I set out to photograph influencers instead. (Notice the love locks on the right)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Loads of married couples as well, they are all over the place. Here, the bridegroom must have left his bride to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

And activists too, another kind of influencers<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Fighting for their rights on behalf of the indigenous peoples of Chittagong in Bangladesh. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

And a little reminder that the most visited landmark in Paris is … Disneyland Paris! (Which, by the way isn’t located within the City itself despite the name)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
