I read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maison-bianchi.fr\/joaillier-horloger-createur\/horloge-palais-cite-conciergerie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on that page<\/a> that it was 47-metre long but it\u2019s hard for me to figure out. This must be a typo. Anyway, I agree with them, one can pass by it without noticing it. During these six centuries, the rulers of France added their touch&#8230; So much so that the clock we see today keeps the traces of each one of them.\u201d [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maison-bianchi.fr\/joaillier-horloger-createur\/horloge-palais-cite-conciergerie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">source<\/a>]<\/p>\n<h3>Paris\u2019 oldest clock<\/h3>\n<p>It is the oldest clock in Paris. I was wondering how old clocks were, and I found out that that the base-60 time system used on our clocks and watches dates from Sumerian times, i.e. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thoughtco.com\/clock-and-calendar-history-1991475\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2,000 BC<\/a>! If water clocks were invented around 250 BC by the Greeks, it isn\u2019t until the early 1300s that the first mechanical clocks were designed.<\/p>\n<p>This clock is therefore one of the oldest in the world, even though it has been overhauled <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tour_de_l%27Horloge_du_palais_de_la_Cit\u00e9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">many times<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s the City\u2019s oldest and a brilliant piece of watchmaking at the corner of the Conciergerie\u00a0in the heart of Paris.
