There&#8217;s something crooked about that <a href=\"https:\/\/antimuseum.com\/en\/2020\/12\/13\/behind-the-front-door\/\">front door<\/a> on the left and it&#8217;s got nothing to do with my wide-angle lens. AS Spring is conducive to poetry,\u00a0here&#8217;s a little poem by Paul Eluard, one of the founders of the surrealist movement. As it&#8217;s surreal it&#8217;s got nothing to do with Spring. But it&#8217;s a poem about Paris nonetheless.<\/p>\n<p>In Paris<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In Paris there is a street;<br \/>\nIn this street there is a house;<br \/>\nIn this house there is a staircase;<br \/>\nIn this staircase there is a room;<br \/>\nIn this room there is a table;<br \/>\nOn this table there is a carpet;<br \/>\nOn this carpet there is a cage;<br \/>\nIn this cage there is a nest;<br \/>\nIn this nest there is an egg,<br \/>\nIn this egg there is a bird.<\/p>\n<p>The bird knocked over the egg;<br \/>\nThe egg knocked over the nest;<br \/>\nThe nest knocked over the cage;<br \/>\nThe cage knocked over the carpet;<br \/>\nThe carpet knocked over the table;<br \/>\nThe table knocked down the room;<br \/>\nThe room knocked down the stairs;<br \/>\nThe stairs knocked down the house;<br \/>\nthe house knocked down the street;<br \/>\nthe street overturned the city of Paris.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eternels-eclairs.fr\/poesie-poemes-paris.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eluard&#8217;s poem in French is available from that website<\/a><\/p>\n<p>About Eluard<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On December 14, 1895, Paul \u00c9luard was born as Eug\u00e8ne Grindel on the outskirts of Paris. He was an excellent student as a young boy, but after his family moved to Paris, \u00c9luard was registered at the \u00c9cole Primaire Sup\u00e9rieure Colbert, where, by his own admission, he did poorly.
