{"id":9919,"date":"2021-12-05T10:33:24","date_gmt":"2021-12-05T09:33:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/antimuseum.com\/?p=9919"},"modified":"2025-04-03T11:36:12","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T09:36:12","slug":"sketch-of-port-royal-abbey-in-paris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/antimuseum.com\/en\/2021\/12\/05\/sketch-of-port-royal-abbey-in-paris\/","title":{"rendered":"Sketch of Port Royal Abbey in Paris"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Paris, near the RER station of Port Royal, you can find the remains of the eponymous abbey, well hidden within the Cochin hospital and the Baudeloque maternity hospital, so much so that you could almost walk past it without noticing.<\/p>\n<h2>Sketch of Port Royal Abbey in Paris<\/h2>\n<p>This abbey was the centre of <a title=\"Abbaye de Port Royal\" href=\"http:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jansenisme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">jansenism<\/a>, and famous writers and philosophers frequented it (Racine, Pascal, &#8230;). It was closed by the State in 1664 (nothing to do with a celebrated lager, though). The cloister is almost intact.
