Rosa Bonheur’s Happy Place

Rosa Bonheur

A visit to Rosa Bonheur’s Chateau near Fontainebleau. Bonheur’s (literally “happiness”) life wasn’t quite happy to start with. Later on she became a very famous painter. Mostly in the US and the UK.

Her biography was written by Anna Klumpke, her friend and partner.

Her workshop. Unfortunately, only — unfinished — painting is on display in her well preserved workshop.

Her portrait by Klumpke.
