La roche Guyon by the river Seine

La Roche Guyon is one of the gems of the Paris region, a dainty village by the river Seine, an hour west of Paris, at the very edge of Normandy. It is famous for its 18th century chateau, built on top of a medieval castle with its keep high up on the ridge above, at the end of a 200 yards tunnel dug in the chalk cliff above the Seine.

Here are a few pictures taken last week on location, the first two of them with the HDR technique which makes the rendition of colours and detail particularly realistic:
